The Narcissist (Part 1)
It is easy to recognize a narcissist if you have ever had experience with them.
I have had many encounters and entanglements with them, unfortunately.
To understand a narcissist, you must first know what you are dealing with.
I have written a poem that shows you how I view a narcissist.
So
much chaos, I can't get control;
I
hide in a world that no one must know.
A
fantasy world where I feel safe with no pain;
the
dreams I create, I live again and again.
No
one can find me and get to my heart;
no
one can belittle me and tear me apart.
But
what is the real and what is the fake;
sometimes
I forget and make a mistake.
No
one can see that I'm hurting inside;
No
one can see that I'm lonely and shy.
Or
maybe they can and maybe it shows;
Maybe
they see me, I really don't know.
Is
there someone still willing to come pull me out?
I'd
like to be free, and I'm wanting to trust;
Could my life become real and the rest turn to dust?
I
reel you in and then push you away;
I
want you to go, but I want you to stay.
My
feelings are weaknesses, the ones I cannot control;
I can't let you in and I can't let you go.
The
thing I can't grasp, is rather profound;
the
more I control, the more I am bound.
The
danger in fantasy is that nothing goes wrong;
And
when it is over I'm still all alone.
You have the unique ability to empathize with just about anybody. I really enjoyed reading. It's not always easy to put yourself in the shoes of someone that you really don't like very much (which seems to be the case with narcissists). Thanks for sharing your insight. :)
